OCR PDF

Runs the recognition engine inside your browser. The first run downloads a language model, so give it a moment.

How to use OCR PDF

  1. Choose the scanned PDF whose text you need.
  2. Pick the language of the document — accuracy drops sharply with the wrong one.
  3. Press Run OCR and wait. The first run downloads the language model once.

Questions

Why is the first run slow?
A language model of roughly 10 MB is downloaded the first time you use a language. After that it is cached and later runs start immediately.
How accurate is it?
Good on clean, straight, well-lit scans. Numbers, names and anything handwritten are where it errs — always check those before relying on the output.
Does my document leave my device?
No. The recognition engine runs inside your browser. Only the language model is fetched, and that is public data unrelated to your file.
