Translate PDF
Translate a document into another language and get it back with its layout, colours and tables intact.
How to use Translate PDF
- Choose the document and pick one of 20 languages.
- Press Translate. Nothing else to set up — a scanned document is read with OCR first, automatically, without you having to run anything.
- Download it back as a PDF with the original design, or as .docx, plain .pdf or .txt if you would rather have the words on their own.
The 20 languages, and the script each one comes back in
Somebody searching "translate a PDF to Bengali" wants to know whether this does Bengali at all, and whether the result will be real Bengali letters rather than boxes. Both answers are here without running anything. The source language is detected from the document; you only choose the column on the left.
| Translate into | Written as | Script |
|---|---|---|
| English | English | Latin |
| Spanish | Español | Latin |
| French | Français | Latin |
| German | Deutsch | Latin |
| Portuguese | Português | Latin |
| Italian | Italiano | Latin |
| Dutch | Nederlands | Latin |
| Turkish | Türkçe | Latin |
| Vietnamese | Tiếng Việt | Latin with tone marks |
| Indonesian | Bahasa Indonesia | Latin |
| Swahili | Kiswahili | Latin |
| Russian | Русский | Cyrillic |
| Arabic | العربية | Arabic — right to left |
| Urdu | اردو | Arabic — right to left |
| Bengali | বাংলা | Bengali |
| Hindi | हिन्दी | Devanagari |
| Thai | ไทย | Thai |
| Chinese (Simplified) | 简体中文 | Han |
| Japanese | 日本語 | Kanji and kana |
| Korean | 한국어 | Hangul |
The bottom eight are the ones that usually come back broken elsewhere — as boxes, as question marks, or stripped down to unstyled text. They are set here in fonts that carry those letters, in the place the original words occupied.
A sentence that gets longer in the new language is fitted to the space it has: the size steps down, the lines re-wrap, and it is checked against its neighbours so nothing is printed over anything else.
What comes back
Four downloads, from the same run. Most people want the first.
| Download | What it is | When you want it |
|---|---|---|
| PDF — original design | The document you gave us, with the words replaced | A letter, invoice, CV, certificate or form that has to still look like itself |
| The translation set out cleanly, page by page | Reading it, or printing something plain | |
| .docx | A Word file you can edit | Working on the translation afterwards |
| .txt | Just the words | Pasting somewhere else |
A scanned or photographed page has no text to extract, so it is read with OCR first — automatically, as part of the same run. The translation is set over the original image, which keeps the letterhead, the stamps, the signature and the ruled lines of the table exactly as they were.
Cost: free AI runs every day, which cover a short document from start to finish. Past those, a run is charged at what it actually used, from a balance you top up yourself. Nothing is charged by the month.
Questions
- Will it look like the original document?
- Yes. The translated PDF comes back with the same layout: the same fonts, sizes, colours, headings, tables, columns and page breaks, with only the words changed. A line that grows in the new language is fitted to the space it has rather than allowed to run over its neighbour — which is the part most translation tools get wrong.
- Can it translate a scanned PDF or a photographed page?
- Yes, and you do not have to do anything first. A page with no text in it is recognised as a scan, read with OCR, and the translation is set over the original image, so the letterhead, stamps, signatures and tables you can see are still there.
- What does it cost?
- There are free AI runs every day, which cover a short document end to end. Past those you pay for the run you actually asked for, out of a balance you top up yourself — there is no subscription, no monthly minimum, and nothing expires.
- Where does my text go?
- Through our server to the AI provider this site uses. The provider’s own privacy terms apply to it, and we do not keep a copy. A scan is read in your own browser, so the image itself is never uploaded.
- Which languages can it translate into?
- Twenty: English, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai and Swahili. The source language is detected from the document, so you only choose where it is going.
- Does a right-to-left or Indic language still come out right?
- Yes. Arabic and Urdu are laid out right to left, and Bengali, Hindi and Thai are set in fonts that have those letters, in the position the original text occupied. These are the scripts that usually come back as boxes or as plain unstyled text elsewhere.
- Is it cheaper than a subscription translation service?
- It is a different shape, and that is the point: nothing here is charged by the month. Free runs every day, and past them you pay for the document in front of you. A subscription costs the same whether you translate one page this year or fifty.
- Is it good enough for an official document?
- It is good enough to understand one, and to check a translator’s work. It is not a certified translation: embassies, courts and universities require one signed by a recognised translator.
