What Title Case actually does

Capitalising every word is not title case. Style guides keep short joining words — a, an, the, and, or, of, in, on — in lower case unless they open or close the line.

So "The Lord of the Rings" is title case; "The Lord Of The Rings" is a tool that did not know the rule.

Questions

What does Title Case do with small words?
It leaves articles, conjunctions and short prepositions lowercase unless they begin the title, which is standard English style rather than capitalising every word.
Why would I want snake_case or kebab-case?
Both are programming conventions — snake_case for variable names in many languages, kebab-case for URLs, CSS classes and filenames.
What does Title Case do with small words?
It leaves of, and, the and their kind in lower case unless they start or end the line — which is what a style guide asks for, and what a plain capitalise-everything tool gets wrong.
Which case should I use for code?
camelCase for JavaScript variables, snake_case for Python, kebab-case for URLs and CSS, CONSTANT_CASE for constants. All of them are in the list.
