Which route should I use?

In-browser is instant and private, and handles ordinary documents well. The server route runs the real LibreOffice engine and reproduces complex layouts faithfully — use it when the formatting matters more than the speed.

Why will it not take my .doc file?

The old binary format has no browser-readable parser. Open it in Word or LibreOffice and save as .docx first.

Why do my fonts look different?

The conversion substitutes any font it does not have. Standard fonts — Calibri, Arial, Times — come through as expected; an unusual licensed font is replaced with the closest match.

Are comments and tracked changes included?

No. The document converts as it would print, so comments and revision marks are left out. Accept or reject changes first if you want them in the result.
