Background Remover

A segmentation model runs inside your browser, so the photo itself is never uploaded. The model file is fetched once from a CDN on first use and cached after that.

How to background remover

  1. Choose a photo with a clear subject — a person, a product, an animal.
  2. Press Remove background. The first run downloads the model once.

Questions

Does my photo get uploaded?
No. Your image stays in this browser the whole time. Only the segmentation model is fetched, and that is the same file for everyone regardless of what you are cutting out.
Why is the first run slow?
It downloads roughly 40 MB of model. After that it is cached and subsequent images process in seconds.
The edges look rough on hair.
Fine strands are the hardest case for any automatic cutout. A plain, contrasting background in the original photo makes the biggest difference.
